At Triumph Over Weight we really understand your desire to lose weight and improve your health. We have first hand, personal experience with these medications and have chosen not to dramatically upcharge you for the medication like so many clinics do.
We exclusively prescribe compounded GLP-1 medications. Specialized compounding pharmacies purchase the GLP-1 chemical from a factory and create it into an injectable form. They often add vitamin B12 to help prevent nausea. The pharmacy I work with is nationally certified and regularly monitors the medication for quality.
Yes! They have the same active chemical as the prescription medications. I have a relationship with an nationally certified pharmacy that has provided a certificate of analysis to prove the purity of the medication. You may have heard about some pharmacies that use fillers and unapproved GLP-1 salts. I have reviewed the certificate of analysis and confirmed they don't use the salt form and have no fillers. I use the same pharmacy for my own injections.
Semaglutide is the active ingredient in Ozempic, Wegovy, and Rybelsus.
Semaglutide is a GLP-1 agonist (mimicker).
It helps you lose weight via 3 mechanisms:
1. Helps you feel fuller longer in 2 ways:
2. Simulates satiety by activating your brain’s reward centers that provide the pleasure associated with eating food, especially calorie dense foods. This helps decrease cravings for high-fat and high-sugar foods.
3. Regulates blood sugar, which is why it can also be used to treat diabetes. By balancing blood sugar, the pancreas doesn’t overload the body with insulin. This tells your body that there is a deficit of carbohydrate to burn for energy and that it should start burning fat instead of storing it! Yahoo! It balances blood sugar in 2 ways:
Semaglutide has also been shown to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and cardiovascular death in patients with cardiovascular disease that are either obese or overweight by 20%. No other therapy has been shown to improve this in this population - including diet, exercise, and weight loss by other means. Amazing!
Tirzepatide is the active ingredient in Mounjaro and Zepbound.
Tirzepatide is a dual GIP/GLP-1 agonist (mimicker). It works the same way as Semaglutide, but also has an additional function at the GIP receptor which can further enhance insulin secretion and balance blood sugar. This adds to the prevention of fat storage and promotion of fat burning.
Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin or Methylcobalamin) is added to help prevent nausea. The brand name, non-compounded medications don't have this benefit.
The most common side effects are gastrointestinal such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, burping, and abdominal discomfort. Fortunately, these are most often mild to moderate and most resolve as your body get's used to the medication. Most of these effects can be improved with dietary adjustments, but if not, I can help you with medications.
Another common effect is fatigue, so make sure you are getting enough rest. Less commonly, people may experience headaches, anxiety, and dizziness.
Though it is used as a diabetic medication as well, the risk of low blood sugar is only present for those that are diabetic and also taking certain other diabetic medications.
